When Can Baby Play With Wooden Puzzles?
One piece of the puzzle
About 6 to 8 months old, babies begin to use simple one-piece wooden puzzles. In most cases, this means opening the puzzle – yes!
Pliers grab
As they approach their first birthday, your baby may start to grip the pliers (grasp something between the thumb and index finger). In this way, they can start to disassemble the puzzle pieces more easily, and even put the puzzle pieces in their placement. Your baby may also like to throw the complete puzzle on the floor.
Multi-piece puzzle
Toddlers start to study simple multi-piece puzzles between 13 and 15 months of age; circles are a good starting point. Especially if you provide some guidance, your toddler may start to notice when items fit or not fit a particular space.
Different shapes
At about 18 months old, your child may be ready to start using different shapes. Whether these shapes are geometric shapes, animal shapes, or other shapes, there are new discoveries that different shapes are suitable for different positions.
Puzzle
When your child is two years old, the introduction to jigsaw puzzles may be correct or even faster. Simple, oversized jigsaw puzzles are a great way to practice new ways of fitting shapes together, and they lay the foundation for more complex jigsaw puzzles. You can also introduce floor puzzles at this age to attract the whole body in interesting new ways.
